  Guarding state: I was born in Qianyang, Shaanxi located at the bank of the Wei River and at the foot of Mt. Qinling. In guarding stage, I placed myself in a lost situation that I created. I make use of red stone lion (lion sculptures of the Han and Tang dynasties around Xi’an) to guard “pure land” that is gradually vanishing. I airdropped the red lion sculpture to the south and north poles, assuming a beautiful lost situation, which is my anxiety and focus on cultural and natural ecology and my envision sourcing from Mt. Qinling on the global and reflection on myself.

  Transferring and creation stage: I cannot find answer in that lost situation I guard, so I attempt to break through the lost situation. In the period, I completed the works “Ice Rocket” that is ready to blast off and is full of paradox. I converted “Ice Rocket” to a “vessel” to carry me away. Transferring is not only running away but also breakthrough. But this big “gravity field” makes me completely exhausted. Finally I chose to land and returned to the starting point and the nature to experience the impact of “creation” on art. In this way, I experienced a quiet period of “Creation Series” and found a new exit in quietness.

  Visceral manifestation stage: After experiencing guarding and transferring stages, I returned to the original point or nature in creating stage. The regression seems to be a kind of self-communion and I begin to reconsider the original image of my survival and the expression force of my painting on it. Eventually, a group of “Visceral Manifestation” paintings appear to us. “藏象” initially was found in “Plain Questions, Treatise on the Six Periods and Visceral Manifestation”. “藏” refers to the internal organs of body. “象” refers to physiological and pathological manifestation. The science of visceral manifestation is to study the physiological function and pathological change of internal organs of body and mutual relations through observing the physiology and pathology of human body.

  In this interlinked epoch, the original manifestation information will be covered rapidly, while I try to seize the original manifestation information under the representation by the way of fragments and perform my creation. The picture is no longer clean and concise as before, on the contrast, I use tough painting method and piles up all pigments on canvas to create an oil painting. I experience the temperature of painting in hearted painting to achieve my exploration of the actual original manifestation. These source materials, different from previously simplex and repetitive one, are like domino that one links with another. It creates a virtual image that is seemed to be impossible, but under the virtual image there is a chain of original image with butterfly effect. Therefore, the works of visceral manifestation are a path for me to think over and find the truth of the world.
