With Las Vegas's arts district galleries closing during tough economic times, Brett Sperry could have sought out a vacated space for his own gallery. Instead, he's built one from scratch.

The video-game maven, whose Command and Conquer series has been a major best-seller, also has a soft spot for art and architecture. The Brett Wesley Gallery, which opens Sept. 10, was designed completely by Sperry and features a photography studio and 1,400 feet of gallery space. Beyond his affinity for art, Sperry says he also wants to contribute to the community as a whole. "How will the city evolve its cultural offerings if someone who has seen success here doesn't contribute?" he asked the Las Vegas Sun.
