Recent movements including #MeToo, #NeverthelessShePersisted, and #TimesUp have amplified the voices of many women — but as recent studies and news stories have suggested, the art world is changing all too slowly. On Wednesday, in honor of Women’s History Month, feminist art space Ceres Gallery will host a conversation and visual presentation highlighting the work of women artists and activists, and imagining new ways to make more women’s voices heard.

The Wednesday event is dubbed “Don’t Shut Up.” It was developed as a continuation of discussions and exhibitions last summer, from San Diego-based Feminist Image Group, and will begin with a panel conversation between Katharine Bodde of the New York Civil Liberties Union, Brittany Brathwaite of Girls for Gender Equity, and artist and blogger Joanne Mattera. In addition to addressing how best to raise up a range of women’s voices — through activism and politics, but also in visual art and the field of culture more broadly — their conversation will be accompanied by a projection of artworks by more than 60 women artists.

When: Wednesday, March 14 at 7pm

Where: Ceres Gallery (547 West 27th Street, Suite 201, Chelsea, Manhattan)
