Matthew Teitelbaum has been appointed the Museum of Fine Arts’s Ann and Graham Gund director. Currently the director and CEO of the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto, Teitelbaum succeeds Malcolm Rogers.

Before heading to Ontario, Teitelbaum held curatorial positions with the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, and the Mendel Art Gallery, Saskatoon. He first joined the Art Gallery of Ontario in 1993 as chief curator, and then, as director, spearheaded a major expansion and renovation of the museum designed by architect Frank Gehry.

A $100 million gift from collector and business leader Ken Thomson, during Teitelbaum’s tenure, helped the museum complete its $276 million fundraising campaign—and eventually surpass its goal by bringing in $306 million. He received the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres from the French government.
