Anne Sinclair was asked to join the board by the ousted director Anne Baldassari

The French journalist Anne Sinclair has resigned from the board of trustees at Paris’s Musée Picasso, after less than a month in the post.

Sinclair, the granddaughter of the late French dealer Paul Rosenberg who represented Picasso, joined the board of the beleaguered museum on 28 April. But she stepped down in mid-May after Anne Baldassari, the museum’s former director, was dismissed by Aurélie Filippetti, the French minister of culture. Baldassari’s management style was under scrutiny, while the museum has been closed for almost five years for renovations (its reopening has been pushed back to September).

“Baldassari asked Sinclair to join the board,” a museum spokeswoman says. She adds that a new director is due to be appointed by the ministry of culture in early June and that “there are many candidates”. Sinclair’s replacement on the board, meanwhile, is the collector and author Anne-Marie Charbonneaux according to our sister paper Le Journal des Arts.
