Artforum announced on its website today that Tim Griffin is stepping down as editor-in-chief of the magazine after seven years.

 

Artforum announced in late April, its website that Tim Griffin was stepping down as editor-in-chief of the magazine after seven years, and would be replaced at the helm by senior editor Michelle Kuo. Mr. Griffin would become editor-at-large, and would "organize symposia and book projects"; he would also work on a book of his own about contemporary art.

"Editing Artforum has been a fantastic privilege and deeply fulfilling, but I've done what I can do in this capacity," Mr. Griffin was quoted as saying in the announcement. "I'm excited that the publishers share my interest in exploring new possibilities related to the magazine, and that I will also have the opportunity to devote more energy to writing and teaching."

Ms. Kuo has been an editor at Artforum since March 2008, and is a Ph.D. candidate at Harvard in the history of art and architecture.
