Hunsand Space is going to present “Zhu Yingying’s Day and Night” Solo Exhibition at 6pm 13 May 2017. At 8pm the artist Zhu Yingying will jointly commence a “Leading Performance” with individual musicians at the Gallery. Often time we are used to remain silent in front of a piece of artwork and find it hard to describe our feelings and thought at that moment. This “Leading Performance” is intended to use sounds as bait to bring out the emotions and vibe which flow naturally and are more sensational, sensitive and delicate.

The exhibition is going to present Zhu Yingying’s paintings, photographic and visual works. The works created through the three medias are a collation of existence which is similar to a repository of memories and affections. It contains the subject’s experiences through participation and the memories from the images themselves, as well as the time and space in which these exist and intersect, and all the indefinable. It feels like listening to an old song after few years’ time where you can feel and sense the details and atmosphere back then. The metaphors of Agamben become the enchanting Nymph, indulging in the chaos of images and memories. They have crystallized into the illusions among the objection word and the historic memories, like a spirit flowing in the images and paintings. They once existed, but have then vanished in the days and nights.

“Day” and “Night” are two statuses in which the artist finds himself. The long and slow days and nights exist in the flow of time and space, implying the “Huai Rou” in “Day” and “Chuan Zhi” at “Night”. In narrating the images, the artist has constantly shifted between “sense” and “sensibility”. He has been skeptically observed the world through repeated paintings, described the delicate feelings in the interface of reality and extracted the texture of sensibility in order to see if the existence of the never-lasting indefinable may remain.

Hunsand Space, founded in 2014, is located in No. 211 Cao Chang Di Art District. Hunsand Space, remaining vigilant towards regular cube-shaped exhibitions, is hoping to extend the current syntax and semantics of contemporary art expressions to a wider aspect. Through our ongoing exhibitions and projects, we aim at stimulating an exploration of the neglected present culture and to bring the merit of contemporary art ideology to you and me.
