The relation between art and society has always been discussed in the history of theories, though the focuses of different periods are different. The discussion on art and society has become a heated topic in China’s art criticism field since 2000. And the exhibition, Connecting Art and Society in Braille: 20 Years of Sculpture Works by Li Xiuqin is just a case that the artist’s individual creation has connected with the society. Shanghai Baoshan International Folk Arts Exposition will hold a forum in response to the opening of this exhibition on January 8, 2014, with the theme of Art and Society: Reconstruction of Theories. Experts have been invited to present lectures, with an aim to carry out an in-depth discussion.
